Background
Analytix Solutions is a bookkeeping and accounting services company that offers a full range of services for small to mid-sized companies.
The objective was to combine the original Independent Restaurant and Franchise Restaurant portals to lower product, engineering support, and development costs and increase user engagement.
In close collaboration with the product team, we created one scalable, intuitive portal that is flexible enough for a restaurant operation of any size – from a mom-and-pop shop to a large enterprise franchise with dozens of locations across the country.
Product Goals
Help users with improved data visualization and analysis
Minimize product complexity while retaining scalability
Identifying Needs
Between analyzing the existing portals, working closely with internal product teams and SME’s, looking at Insight360 competitors, and speaking with current portal users, we identified five key personas and their “mission critical” objectives when using the application.

Easy and quick insights and alerts to draw attention to problem areas
Comparisons to budgets and trend analysis
Cross-location analysis with outlier stores
Creating the Structure
Different users require a different perspective on the same data and a different level of detail. This meant we had to be specific about how the features and information will be structured around one another and how it will scale with the growth and evolution of the product.

Features that scale
Through user testing and close collaboration with the product team, we created a portal emphasizing features most utilized in day-to-day management. The challenge throughout the design of this product was to allow the flexibility of drilling into specific data without losing the big picture.
The scalability of this portal was another big objective. With the creation of snapshot reports and cross-location reports, users could make informed decisions about their business.
